§ 2-18. Mayor pro tempore.

  • Mayor and council shall, at the first meeting of the newly constituted council after any general election for council, elect one of its members as mayor pro tempore for a term of two (2) years. Mayor pro tempore shall act as mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor. If a vacancy occurs in the office of the mayor, the mayor pro tempore shall serve as mayor until a successor is elected.
