§ 2-18. Mayor pro tempore.

Mayor and council shall, at the first meeting of the newly constituted council after any general election for council, elect one of its members as mayor pro tempore for a term of two (2) years. Mayor pro tempore shall act as mayor during the absence or disability of the mayor. If a vacancy occurs in the office of the mayor, the mayor pro tempore shall serve as mayor until a successor is elected.
