§ 6-2. Date of general elections; public notice.

  • A general election to fill all offices required to be filled shall be held in even numbered years on the first Tuesday in May; a run-off election, if necessary, shall be conducted two (2) weeks after the first election.

    The mayor and city council have approved a change in the date of the election from the second Tuesday in May in even years to the second Tuesday of June of odd numbered years as provided by S.C. Code 1976, § 5-15-50, to begin in 2019.
